Website Concept Plan

It is about knowing where you are going and what you will need. It is designed for businesses wanting a website and are serious about making their site an effective sales and marketing channel.

Undertake a website auditDo you have an idea for a website, but don’t know what to do next?

Website success or failure often starts with the next step you take. You could either just do something and hope that it works, or you could plan.

Most websites are developed without too much planning and little thought about the best way to bring it all to reality in a way that will work. The emphasis on many websites is on all the extras that don’t add value to the user or deliver measurable results to the site owner (sales or enquiries).

Invariably, this is a sign of no planning or of having no firm business objective. If you have an idea for a website and getting your business online you must begin with a plan that starts with your business objectives as its basis.

Successful websites start with a plan

Planning is essential for any website. Before you start on a journey you must know not only your destination, but also how you intend getting there. It is the same with your website. Your planning must not stop at just getting your website online, but also how you intend to maintain it, and most importantly of all how you intend to evaluate its performance against your objectives.

What will a Website Concept Plan achieve?

A Website Concept Plan is designed for business owners and other organisation looking to establish a website. Step-by-step it will take you through what you will need to turn your business objectives into an online reality. Starting with your business goals, our Website Concept Plan will clearly define the objectives for your site. It will then outline what your proposed website will need to do (it's functionality) in order for it to become an effective sales and marketing channel for your business.

To undertake a Website Concept Plan for your proposed site, we will contact you to arrange a suitable time to meet. During this meeting we will ask you questions about your business and the goals you want to achieve with your proposed website.

The areas we will cover in your Website Concept Plan are:

Business objectives:
Your business goals are fundamental to your online success. Without firm goals and the ability to measure and assess you have no way of knowing if you are succeeding. When we look at you business goals we will assess your Unique Business Advantage (UBA) and how that will assist you with your online venture.

Site objectives:
At its most basis, your website objectives will be the means by which you achieve your overall business objectives.

Site requirements:
At this stage we will list all those elements that you will require to fulfill your site objectives. This list will contain all those pieces of functionality required. In a complex site there could be many pieces of functionality that will be required to work together. In simple sites there may only be a few items.

Promotional checklist:
We will provide you with a promotional checklist containing 21 ways to promote your website. Not all of these methods will necessarily be relevant for you or your business, but many will be. By employing these promotional methods you will be generating traffic to your website that will need to be converted to either enquires or sales.

Next step:
Now that you will have a much clearer idea of what you will need to convert your idea into an online reality, we will outline to you the next step you need to take.

Proceed from a solid foundation!
Starting from a solid foundation of a Website Concept Plan you can have the confidence that website will have the best chance of success, and avoid the hit and miss approach so prevalent with many websites. The end product must be a website that delivers the results you want!

Your plan will only succeed with commitment

Your Website Concept Plan will provide the firm foundations to develop your online business. It will outline what needs to be done for you to establish a website that generates results. However, it cannot guarantee your success. There are many factors involved, and no two websites are the same. Success is a combination of the business, products, services and skill level. Most importantly, however, it is your commitment and level of continuing effort that you are willing to invest in your own success. Success is not an accident.
